NOTICE - FY2014 Small Equipment Grant
The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is pleased to announce an upcoming Small Equipment Grant which will kick off Monday, September 16, 2013. The OSFM will issue applications to all Fire Chiefs in the state of Illinois through the OSFM-issued FD e-mail as well as an E-mail blast. The announcement of the grant and application will be posted on the OSFM website during the open application period, starting September 16, 2013 and ending Friday, November 15, 2013. The OSFM will be providing additional guidance regarding completion of the grant application over the next few months at select fire service conferences and regional meetings. This information will also be posted on our website and communicated through FD e-mail.

IDNR Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program Financial Assistance Grant Period Opens
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has been awarded federal funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service for approximately $300,000. This money is part of a national allotment for rural fire protection under the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978, as amended by the Forest Stewardship Act of 1990. Payments pursuant to this grant are subject to the appropriation of adequate funds by the United States Congress. The funds will be distributed to fire fighting agencies as a 50-50 reimbursement type grant with a maximum award of $10,000.00. Fire Departments must have funds available for the entire project cost at the time of application and be able to expend the entire project cost initially and then submit invoices and payment documentation to IDNR for 50% reimbursement of the total costs.

Illinois Finance Authority - Rural Development Loan Program
In participation with the Rural Development Administration's Intermediary Relending Program, the Illinois Finance Authority will finance business facilities and community development located in rural communities with populations of less than 25,000. Loan proceeds may be used to finance the purchase of land, construction or renovation of an industrial or commercial building, construction or improvement of infrastructure or purchase of machinery and equipment.
